Version: 0.50.80 (KDE 4.1 >= 20080703) (using Devel) Installed from: Compiled sources Compiler: gcc g.3.1 (Debian 4.3.1-4) Debian unstable stock gcc OS: Linux When the system tray icon is disabled, the kopete quit button fails in a weird way: it toggles between working and not working with each program restart. Control-Q is affected as well. Steps to reproduce: 1. Disable system tray icon 2. Close kopete (no problem) 3. Start kopete 4. Try closing kopete. No such luck. 5. Nuke it from orbit (pkill, control-alt-escape, whatever) 6. Start kopete 7. Goto 2
ROTFL, this is a funny bug.
If you run kopete without system tray, and then click the Close (X) button, then the kopete process is still running. If you had hit ctrl-Q on the first time, then you will not have this problem. The fact that the kopete process is still running may give us a clue as to why this problem is happening (the second time)
Created attachment 26054 [details] Patch To Fix System Tray Integration This fixes the problem of not having a system tray icon and closing. What it DOESN'T fix, is enabling or disabling the system tray (ie, you need to quit kopete, and restart it for these settings to take effect)

I am still having this problem with Kopete 0.60.82. Closing the window does not exit the process, so without the tray icon all you can do is kill it via the command line.
Cannot reproduce with KDE 4.3 please reopen if you still see this bug in KDE 4.3 or later
