Description x.para 2008-07-06 21:32:59 UTC
Version: (using Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources

Plasma should not tak so many recourses when you dealing with widgets and windows animations. Simply moving notes widget around desktop consumes 100% of CPU recourses. Analog themable clock about 60%.
Moving any window under kwin takes 40%. Moving widget list in new widget dialog takes 100% too.

Despite a lot of great work has been done on plasma I would like to have it running with reasonable performance fully using optimalized OpenGL interfaces.

I'd would not afford to make comparation with compiz but as benchmark plasma is still far away from it now.

nvidia-drivers-173.14.09 (and etsted with many others with same result)
xorg-server-1.4.2
stable 2.6.24-gentoo-r8

plasma does not use opengl for its canvas, and this br is too vague (no target for resolvability)
