Description Clemens Eisserer 2008-07-03 12:37:45 UTC
Version:           Version 4.00.84 (KDE 4.0.84 (KDE 4.1 >= 20080625) (using KDE 4.0.83)
Installed from:    Fedora RPMs
Compiler: gcc version 4.3.1 20080624 (Red Hat 4.3.1-3) (GCC)
OS:                Irix

When changing other properties of an application-link on desktop, the link looses its icon.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Start menu
2. Pull "Web Browser - Konqueror" on the desktop -> A new application link named "konqueror" is created on the desktop, with konqueror's icon as icon.
3. Right click on the icon -> "Icon Settings"
4. Go to Tab "Application" and change the name from Konqueror to something else
5. The "updating system config"-dialog appears for a second
6. The link on desktop has lost its icon and now only shows an empty sheet with a question mark.

I am not sure if this is really a KDE bug, or a distribution bug caused by bad packaging of e.g. the icon files.

this is a duplicate of one of Maciej's bugs. too tired to look for it right now, but it's already reported.

I think you refer to

Comment 3 Aaron J. Seigo 2008-07-03 21:37:34 UTC
no, i think there's another BR in the system about renaming the application or the icon resulting in a blank entry until next start.
