Description Pavel Mendl 2008-07-02 11:25:24 UTC
Version: part of KDE bundle - 3.5.9 (using KDE 3.5.9)
Installed from:    Debian testing/unstable Packages
Compiler: Debian (Lenny) precompiled package used
OS:                Linux

* Excuse me if I do not use exact terms in description, as I am using Czech translation of KOrganizer.
* This bug is persistent since KDE 3.5.0 on stable Debian Etch without change.
* Bug description:
1) I set new event (e.g. meeting) or task (todo), set terms and set alert typically several days before.
2) The alert pops up properly. As I wish to do some related action this day, I just minimize the alert window, as the reminder to be processed later during day.
3) (E.g.) I do some development in meantime and cause system crash (the same behaviour however applies to the regular system shutdown with no crashing and no system complies).
4) Pending alert silently disappears. It does never pop up again, what caused me to miss several important events in the past. It took some time before I found exactly the cause of "loosing" alerts.
I can prevent alerts from vanishing if I press "Postpone (or what is the name)" button below alert window. However at least once it even happened, that alert poped up during shutdown in progress and, obviously, vanished the same way.

Idea of easy workaround: set some file recording all alerts for what the Dismiss button was REALLY MANUALLY pushed. Then on KOrganizer start check all alerts qualified to be pending and pop all of them except those listed as dismissed already.
However I do not know internals of KOrganizer, so may be completely wrong.

I am very surprised, that this behaviour is not reported already. Could it be that it is related just to my own environment?

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of korganizer (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.

Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
