Version: (using KDE 4.0.83) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages In KDE4, to log off (or shut down) the machine, one clicks the Kmenu, then the Logoff (or shutdown) button, then the Logoff (or shutdown) button in the submenu, then the Logoff (or shutdown) button in the popup. This is too much. In my opinion, the Kmenu Logoff submenu is redundant. Once a user clicks the logoff button in Kmenu, the Logoff popup should be displayed immediately.
Are you talking about the "classic menu" or kickoff? with kickoff the sequence is kickoff -> leave -> logout -> logout with the traditional menu its kmenu -> leave -> logout Either way, I think this is a duplicate of http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=152110 There the final state was summarized by Kevin Kofler as: "The problem is that if you disable that [the "confirm logout" dialog], you break the classic menu, which only has one Logout button. So we can't [dis]able that option in distributions! What is needed is a way to have Kickoff log out directly, but the classic menu pop up the logout dialog. "
It is a dupe, sorry. Thanks for the summary! *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 152110 ***
