Version: (using Devel) Installed from: Compiled sources Compiler: GCC 4.3.1 CFLAGS="-O2 -march=core2 -pipe" OS: Linux When the panel gets filled up with too many tasks/tray items, Plasma+X CPU usage jumps up to about 50% (on my dual-core system, Core2 T7500). Steps to reproduce: 1. Open many windows so that the task manager applet becomes full 2. Open an application that creates a systray icon (e.g. Kopete) Widgets become somewhat condensed and CPU usage rises. After closing the applications it remains high.
Created attachment 25758 [details] Initial panel layout This is what my panel looks like normally.
Hi Alexey, Which revision do you use ? Do you have lock logout widget on your panel, if yes can you remove it and say us if the problem still appears ? Regards, Loic Hi Alexey,

Which revision do you use ?
Do you have lock logout widget on your panel, if yes can you remove it and say us if the problem still appears ?

Regards,

Loic
Created attachment 25759 [details] Opening many windows When many windows are opened, the CPU usage and panel layout is still normal.
Created attachment 25760 [details] Adding a systray application When a systray application is added, panel becomes somewhat overcrowded, with widgets shrinked. CPU usage is now high.
Created attachment 25761 [details] Closing excessive applications When applications that caused the issue are closed, the panel remains malformatted, with high CPU usage. However, unlocking widgets and locking them again lowers the CPU usage and restores normal panel formatting. Plasma revision is 825355, desktop effects enabled (using OpenGL with Intel driver 2.3.2)
This seems the bug with lock logout applet fixed in rev 825459 Please update your svn and close the bug if this fix the problem Thanks
Loic, removing the lock/logout applet solves the high CPU usage problem, but not the panel formatting problem. I will now check out and recompile a new revision to see if it is better in this regard.
Hi Alexey :) If you have other problem with panel formatting and the high cpu usage is resolved with svn up, can you close this bug and open an other for the panel formatting ? Thanks ! The new SVN revision fixes the issue. Thanks to devs and sorry for the fuss :)
