have you updated the folderview? it's not in workspace, is in apps/plasma. try to rebuild that (well, or everything) and see if the crash persists, because it's very likely to be that (or some other binary incompatible applet, so make sure you start plasma with a clean config file)
I confirm this bug ; please propose KDE3 as alternate to KDE 4 not ready yet
no more crash after loggin a KDE-4 session.
