Description Philipp Ludwig 2008-06-29 10:03:58 UTC
Version: 0.50.1 (using 4.0.5 (KDE 4.0.5), Gentoo)
Compiler: i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.25-gentoo-r2

When you receive a message starting with a '<', the message is not displayed. For example, I'm chatting with a friend and he see in his client this:

<Buddy> : blablabla
<me> : blabla
<Buddy> : <-- bla

And I receive that:

<Buddy> : blablabla
<me> : blabla
<Buddy> :

As you can see, the last message is not displayed.

It happens to me with my ICQ Contacts, unfortunately I can not check if this happens with other protocols since I do not know anybody who uses something different than ICQ.

does it happen even if you switch the style of the chat window?
Comment 2 Philipp Ludwig 2008-06-29 13:39:26 UTC
Hello,

I've changed the style from Oxygen to Klearlooks and nothing changed, but I've discovered something interesting:

- If Kopete receives a '<' from a Trillian user, the message is displayed.
- If the remote user uses QIP/Miranda/ICQ6, it is not displayed.
Comment 3 FiNeX 2008-06-29 14:08:39 UTC
I don't mean the style of widgets, but the style of the chat window:
kopete -> settings -> configure -> chat window -> style
Comment 4 Philipp Ludwig 2008-06-29 14:52:56 UTC
OK I've changed the style of the chat window but it still does not work.
Comment 5 Roman Jarosz 2008-07-17 22:36:55 UTC
I can't reproduce this with Kopete 0.50.80
Comment 6 Kai Becker 2008-07-20 14:25:07 UTC
seems to be fixed in 0.50.80 (kde 4.0.99, Suse 11)
Comment 7 Dominik Tritscher 2008-07-22 12:42:48 UTC
Can't reproduce that with 0.50.80 either.
Comment 8 Philipp Ludwig 2008-07-29 18:08:34 UTC
I've installed KDE 4.1 and Kopete today and the bug is still not fixed for me.

(I'm using Ubuntu now)
Comment 9 Roman Jarosz 2008-12-28 12:40:46 UTC
I can reproduce with "<a b>" but we can't do anything about it because the ICQ server filters it. You can report it to them.
