Description Javier G. 2008-06-28 15:19:53 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.0.83)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

When Compiz is set as default Window manager in the System Settings every time that I start KDE 4.1 some icons like Knetworkmanager, adept updater, Ktorrent (KDE 3 version) are placed independently of the system tray on the up-left corner of the desktop, on individual (mini) windows.

I think that this bug only happen when compiz start at the same time that icons are being added on the system tray.

i'm not particularly sure how this is supposed to be a plasma issue.

Hi,
If the Task Manager (plasmoid -> plasma) do those strange things when an alternative kwin window manager is being loaded at the same time that the task manager is adding icons of applications... isn't a bug that the the plasmoid can't handle without errors the icons while is starting that window manager?

If you are right should not be delayed the load of alternative kwin window managers until every plasmoid/widget is loaded without errors to prevent those issues? :-)

Of course if I change the window manager from kwin to compiz (executing in a terminal "compiz --replace &") when the desktop is fully loaded the system tray not have this issue (mainly because there are no icons to be added during the change of window manager), but then, why exist an option of select compiz in System settings if is bugged?
