Quote:
"I know showing the scrollbar all the time is a good thing (as it works as an indication that there is more content to be shown), but I don’t feel much comfortable by having a scrollbar all the time in my desktop"

Quote:
"I would prefer the scrollbars or osx indicators on the disappearing frame … so, they would be visible only when the folderview plasmoid is selected."

I didnt quote myself because I basically said the same thing as the second quote, but I believe it's better to report a bug than to just discuss it in blogs. Read the blog for more info.

"... I’m on the fence about the scrollbar issue. I could understand how some people might find a scrollbar on their beautiful Desktop an eye sore, but I don’t know if it would actually reduce performance in anything. The problem with using Apple’s solution is that we don’t use it anywhere else in the environment, and I’m not entirely convinced that arrows are a better control than a scrollbar. It might be possible to look in to shading/fading the scrollbar when the widget is not in focus. That way it is out of the foreground, but still there in the UI and user’s mind. When the Plasma widget is in focus again, the user isn’t surprised when widgets start appearing."

Nice idea. Or we could have it in a white and transparent fashion to blend in with the rest of the applet and the background ;)

It should be already planned that the scrollbar could be hidden if not needed on 4.2.

Anyway this problem has already been discussed in bug #162571 :-)

This is for hiding the scrollbar when out of focus or some other way of removing the scrollbar eyesore from the desktop when its not needed. That other bug is about having a scrollbar period, which has been resoved, but does nothing about my feature request. Pay attention guys and dont mark duplicate before reading the two bugs.
