One feature that I remember from KDE v3.5.x is that we can see on the Desktop previews of the images instead of icons. Folderview plasmoid has almost every feature that had the old Desktop except images preview.

Since this was optional in KDE 3, folderview could have it as option.
The problem that I could see is:
What previews size? 
Same image size from Dolphin or folderview should to have independent (selectable or not) size?

folderview should not only show the preview of pictures, but also previews of pdf files etc.
I don't think the size of the preview is a big problem - the previews should be nearly of the same size as the icons are.

works in trunk, only show preview of images, but that's more an issue of KFileItemDelegate i think..

You can choose which types of files are previewed in the config dialog. The default setting is to only show previews for image files.
