Description Frederik Himpe 2008-06-21 17:20:12 UTC
Version: 0.50.80 (KDE 4.0.83) (using Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources

In the Account Preferences for an MSN account, there is the option "Download the MSN picture". One of the possible settings is "Automatically (read help)". This makes no sense as there is no Help button directly leading to an explanation of this setting.

It would be much better to add a "What's this" right click explanation.

Better yet: make display picture work automagically in all cases without any configuration option, like is the case in Pidgin.

Confirmed for Kopete 0.50.1
Comment 2 Tejas Dinkar 2008-07-10 05:51:23 UTC
I think this is from the old days where you needed to set a constant in the MSN code to be able to get contact photos automatically.

In recent versions of kopete (trunk 829783) the contact photo can be automatically downloaded (at least for some contacts, here) without any extra config.

Hense, this warning to 'read help' should be removed

If there is no warning or problem anymore in using the automatic setting, could that one be made the default too at the same time? That's how most users would expect it to work.

This has been removed from the new WLM plugin that's present in KDE 4.2 Beta 1 and later.
