Comment 1 FiNeX 2008-06-17 21:19:44 UTC
It the crash reproducible? How?
Comment 2 Jonathan 2008-06-18 17:34:20 UTC
I don't know exactly how to reproduce the bug, but this is what I was doing at the moment when the bug occurred:

*Updating my Kubuntu 8.04 system through Adept Updater. All the updates were downloaded and I was at about 70 % in the installation process.
*The system was configuring ssl-cert, I had to press enter.
*Plasma Workspace crashes.

I am afraid these circumstances are not really reproducible, are they?
Comment 3 Anne-Marie Mahfouf 2008-06-18 17:55:25 UTC
So now Plasma does not crash anymore? under normal use?
Were you also updating KDE?
Comment 4 Jonathan 2008-06-18 20:07:50 UTC
Yes, it does not crash anymore. No, I did not update KDE. It is still version 4.0.3.
Comment 5 Jonathan 2008-06-19 11:11:59 UTC
Unfortunately, I had another crash today. I was busy downloading a .zip file in Konqueror and suddenly Plasma crashed.

*There were 9 tabs open in Konqueror
*Kontact (KDE 3 version) was running
*Gwenview was open with one .png picture
*Juk was running and looking up track information on the internet.

Comment 6 Sebastian Sauer 2008-06-24 04:46:08 UTC
from past few months running through bugs.kde.org I am 99% sure this is fixed in trunk aka upcoming 4.1 and it's hard to fix it in 4.0.x without a proper backtrace like described at http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports

Comment 7 Aaron J. Seigo 2008-06-24 05:19:29 UTC
if it's fixed in 4.1, just close the report. 99% is good enough for a report that has this little to go on. we can always follow up on it later if needed.
Comment 8 Pablo Arévalo 2008-07-16 07:41:30 UTC
Can we re-open this bug? I don't think it's worth making a new report, if this report is still usable.
After the latest round of kernel updates for Kubuntu Intrepid, suddenly my plasma workspace crashes on boot with a SIGABRT signal.

Here's the backtrace report:

It is perfectly repeatable from a console, by re-launching plasma.

Comment 9 Aaron J. Seigo 2008-07-16 20:15:05 UTC
that's not the same crash, Pablo, and looks like a packaging fubar.

Comment 12 Lucas Richards 2008-10-16 15:40:32 UTC
I just enabled Compiz Fusion and Crash did not occur.

@Lucas Richards (comment #11):
please do not paste random backtraces in fixed bugs, this does not help. Open a new bug in case.

And beside that, your problem is not a KDE problem, but a crash of a Mandriva-specific Plasma applet, and thus should be reported to Mandriva, if not already.

Using KDE 4.1.3 this happened again to me:

Application: Plasma Workspace (plasma), signal SIGABRT

At the time, I was pushing around a few large files (DVD iso images, a few GB each) on a brand new installation of openSUSE 11.1 on a dual core x86_64 (Dell Optiplex GX620), 2 sata drives with software RAID-1. Don't remember exactly what I was doing.

This bug was fixed in 4.0, but it happened here with 4.1.3.
