Version: (using Devel) Installed from: Compiled sources OS: Linux KRunner makes my screen blink (like when I change from X to an other X or to console) every few seconds.
I cannot reproduce the bug with 4.1 RC1. (I could reproduce with 4.0.4 or 4.1 Beta 2.)
huzzah!
Unfortunately I have this bug again with 4.2 beta 2. :( (I have a simple integrated SiS video card, so no freaking closed driver, and it works fine otherwise.)
Same problem here on Kubuntu 8.10. (KDE 4.1.3) The screen flickers on every keyboard press or mouse roll. It is almost invisible, but VERY noticable on a remote X session! Killing krunner stops the flickering. Note that this is a *different* flicker than the screen flashing every 8 seconds caused by the Kubuntu krandr daemon.
The flickering is only visible on CRT monitors. On fast systems there are horizontal black lines during typing, but on lower end systems (esp. via remote X) the screen shakes as if the video output is reset on every keypress.
Wilbert: this is a different problem. In my case - it blinks at regular time intervals (~ 5 s), not on keyboard or mouse events, - it is very noticeable, on my LCD monitor: it blinks like when changing resolution, or changing between virtual console and X. What is that krandr problem you write about? It might be more similar to my problem.
Maybe this is not the best place to ask it but: is there a way to check out and debug the source of KRunner without building the whole KDE from source? This bug seemingly does not appear for many people but this is a blocker bug for me. I am not a KDE developer but know programming to some extent so maybe I would be able to find the location of the bug.
is the bug still there?
Nope, fortunately.
