i like the option to select a part of a image to make a avatar but i also like sometimes to use a whole image for it. I then like it to stretch it too make it fit. It would also be nice if it the program automatically select the new added image.

This feature confused me initially as well. If you do not select any part of the image, but simply click OK, Kopete will use the selected image in its entirety.

At least, this is what happens in KDE 3.5, I don't know if that's changed in KDE 4.

Dear user, unfortunately Kopete is no longer maintained.

Please migrate to another solution, e.g. for Jabber a possibility is Kaidan, for Matrix a candidate is NeoChat.
