Description Manu Favre 2008-06-11 07:44:08 UTC
Version:           1.9.2-beta (svn-812909, 2008-05-26) (using 4.00.80 (KDE 4.0.80 >= (KDE 4.1 Beta1), compiled sources)
Compiler:          i586-mingw32msvc-gcc
OS: Microsoft Windows (i686) release 5.0 (2000 Professional)

Running self-test in Kleopatra gives sometimes uncorrect result. As an example, "scdaemon configuration check" is displayed as failed but the use of the daemon runs in deed correctly (encryption, decryption, key genaration and so on)
Comment 1 Marc Mutz 2008-06-12 16:46:01 UTC
Most probably your gpgconf is too old. Please paste the error you get (in the tooltip of the second column, and yes, I know that's probably too hidden :)
Comment 2 Manu Favre 2008-06-13 13:47:08 UTC
Hi Mark,

At first thank you for your comments.

Have a look to the screen cap I made. For all "failed" test, the tooltip is the same (error code 2; gpgconf: invalid option "--check-option").
By the way, I have downloaded all applications (i.e. Kleopatra, gpg, scdaemon and so on) in one zip file from the gpg4win.de web site (was namly the "Gpg4win 1.9.2 BETA"). So I don't think my ".conf" files are from an out of date version. From the other side I also recognise that I did not tried to catch the problem myself very deeply...

With warmest regards,

Manu

Kleopatra self-test results screen cap

Ooops, sorry.

Here it is:
Comment 5 Marc Mutz 2008-06-17 00:08:22 UTC
Yup, your gpgconf is too old. You should have an up-to-date version if you install www.gpg4win.org v1.9.2.
Comment 6 Marc Mutz 2008-06-17 00:09:24 UTC
gpgconf too old
Comment 7 Manu Favre 2008-06-17 16:22:54 UTC
> gpgconf too old
Exactly. Sorry for this.

After a clean re-install (i. e. by hand deletion of the conf-files in user home directory) it works now.
This means also that the uninstall procedures of current stable version does not remove (or at least ask to remove) these files. Anyway I think there much urgent matters before making this kind of cosmetics.
Comment 8 Will Stephenson 2008-07-17 19:26:18 UTC
I've got the same errors on openSUSE 11.0, gpgconf 2.0.7.

What's the minimum version of gpgconf that supports --check-option?
Comment 9 Marc Mutz 2008-07-21 18:21:22 UTC
2.0.7 is almost a year old!

$ gpgconf --check-options gpg
gpg:GPG for OpenPGP:/opt/ae2/bin/gpg2:1:1:
$ gpgconf --version
gpgconf (GnuPG) 2.0.10-svn4775

Looking at the gnupg ChangeLog (hint, hint :) --check-options was added on 2008-05-20, so it will be in 2.0.10.

I guess I can skip these tests when gpgconf isn't >= 2.0.10.
