Description esl 2008-06-09 17:55:26 UTC
Version: (using KDE 3.5.8KDE 1.2)
Installed from: Unspecified LinuxUnspecified Linux
OS: Linux

I have the EEE PC Linux KDE 1.0.2.15 (Build 2007-12-11 13:43). I don't know much about this so please help me and explain to me simply.

I have been using Gwenview (photomanager-the one that came with my computer) to download my photos from my digital camera Argus via a usb cable. I have done this before with no problems.

Then all of a sudden, when I hit the download button "Photo manager-The KDE Handler" crashes saying "The application photomanager (gwenview) crashed and caused the signal 8(SIGFPE)".

The backtrace says:

I have no idea what any of this means, but I can't download my photos. I am using the easy mode version of Linux xandros and so don't know how to do anything technical.

Please help me with an easy solution and explain step by step what to do. Thanks

Unfortunately, the backtrace you posted is not very useful because it's missing debug information (see the "(no debugging symbols found)" lines). It's not your fault, though, this kind of information is only available when using debug-version of programs.

My guess is that Gwenview is crashing because it fails to read the image. Can you attach one of these images to this bug report?

Hi I don't know how to attach. How come it was reading the images fine
before?

About attachment: there is a "Create a New Attachment" link at the
bottom of the bug report page.

About the fact that it was reading images fine before: I can see two
possible reasons: either an update broke Gwenview, or you are using a
different camera, which produce pictures Gwenview can't read.
Comment 4 esl 2008-06-11 02:47:24 UTC
Hi,
I saw the create attachment. Thanks, but what do you want me to attach?
There is no file when it crashes. Before, it would download a .ppm image
into a mypictures folder. But I don't have any of those.

Maybe something is broken in Gwenview, that needs to be fixed? I didn't
update anything and it's the same camera that I am using. So I don't
know why all of a sudden it stopped working? I have also reset my
computer to the orginal default settings, but when I tried gwenview
again, the same crash happened. Please help. Thanks.

the same thing has happened to me while i had my media card from my camera in my computer trying to upload photos.my medie card is now saying it has no images on it both when in my computer and in my camera. does this mean that the virus or bug has wiped all of my pictures from the card for good or are they retrievable?

This crash is from the KDE 3 version, which is no longer maintained. If you are
experience crashes with the KDE 4 version, please attach an updated backtrace
or report a new bug.
