Description FiNeX 2008-06-09 13:34:47 UTC
Version: Revision 818680 (using Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
OS: Linux

It could be useful to display files/directories not only with icons like now, but even using a detailed view, like the dolphin one.

And grouped :).
Comment 4 Ignat Semenov 2013-04-11 16:14:31 UTC
What's the usecase for that?

The semantics of the folderview applet are different from those of a real file manager, hence this is a wontfix. Folderview is meant to be just a shortcut, whereas to perform file management you need to launch a full-blown file manager application.

Usecase? Better overview. Continuity (my filemanager shows the icons the same way so I also want to have it in the folderview container on the desktop).

Why should I want a folderview widget on my desktop if not for a quick overview of the files in the shown folder? So grouped view and/or list view seem more than natural...

I strongly hope someone will invent an additional replacement folderview applet where I can have the text alongside the icons instead of below! And maybe even with grouped view...
