Description Georg Wittenburg 2008-06-07 10:47:46 UTC
Version: 4.1 Beta 1 (using Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources

Changing the size of the Konsole window by dragging the window edges is very slow and unresponsive. All other applications are a bit sluggish, but still responsive.

Do you have an NVidia graphics card?

Please try starting Konsole with --disable-transparency and see if that helps.

Yes.

I guess that should be --notransparency?

Yes, that helps and makes Konsole just as responsive as other KDE apps.

Same thing here, and not just with resizing konsole. Switching to a desktop that contains a konsole is very slow as well for example. I'm using an NVIDIA card/drivers as well.

Is there a way to disable transparency permanently in konsole other than using the --notransparency option every time? I'm not using transparent backgrounds anyway, so I'm not sure why it's enabled in the first place.

Another user informed me on IRC that updating to the latest NVidia drivers (173.14.05) appeared to solve the problem.
