Description René Krell 2008-06-06 17:41:51 UTC
Version: 4.0.81 (using Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
Compiler: gcc 4.3
OS: Linux

Generally, in dialogs to open a file or directory, there should be some switch or context menu entry to show or hide hidden files. It's very strange for instance in Kontact to import mails, calendars, contacts and so on from KDE3, since they were in most cases saved in ~/.kde/ and similar hidden folders. At the moment, the only chance to get there is to know the folder and entering it manually (having some advantage with the auto-completion, at least).

PS: I haven't found some kind of a global per-user option to show hidden files generally in all file dialogs. Is there some?

Sorry, I found it, even if it was some kind of hard to find: There is such an option in under the "Options" button menu - "Show hidden files" (F8). Would be nice to have it directly in the context menu over the files and folders, but this issue is no longer valid.
