define "every component". dbus interfaces are on the 4.2 roadmap, but this br is too general to be useful as it stands.
"Every component" - Containments, plasmoids and krunner maybe. I didn't saw it here: http://techbase.kde.org/Schedules/KDE4/4.2_Feature_Plan so I filed a wishlist. If it is already planned, then put it there and close this report if you want.
At the very least a way to interact with the desktop containment, query which is shown on the screen, change the background, etc. etc. I'm still missing at least the "change the background" one so that we can re-add "Set as Background" to the image context menus.
