Ok, with more recent Kopete checkouts, there's a more detailed error "There was an error in the protocol stream: Malformed stream packet received." Details: "mismatched tag"
I can't reproduce that with kopete 0.50.80 from KDE4.1RC1 Kubuntu packages.

Sorry, still happens with RC1, maybe it's a problem related to my server. I'm using jabberd2... Dominik, what are you using? I will try to post a tcpdump output asap
AFAIK it is a ejabberd, but I don't maintain that server myself so I'm not sure about that.
With current trunk (KDE4.2) it doesn't happen anymore, so it's fixed in KDE 4.2
I use kde 4.2.4 Opensuse 11.1 and i have this problem too. If i send messege in jabber groupchat, i have error messege "There was an error in the protocol stream: Malformed stream packet received." Server jabber.ru. Another jabber clients, like gajim or psi, work fine with this server. How i can fix this bug?
