Version: (using KDE 4.0.4) Installed from: Fedora RPMs For me plasma kept crashing 3-4 times a day during work. This appeared when changing tasks by clicking on items in the taskmanager-widget. (Is that called "taskbar" internally or "Task Manager" as it's shown in the UI?) All open apps where still running, also still updating the screen or playing music etc. However I was unable to change any tasks, not even using the keyboard. Also clicking on the application-window of any task didn't focus it. Changing to a text-console I was able to kill plasma (after unsuccessful trying to kill klauncher etc.). That didn't give me back access to a task-changer or so, but I was able to at least focus all open apps one after another and cleanly save my work before restarting KDE. Workaround: Disabling tooltips in the the taskbar-widget-settings. That prevented any crashes (for more than a day now). I found other bugs which I'm not sure are exactly related - but maybe: #161538, #161518.
Could you please provide a useful backtrace like explained on http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports ? Thanks in advance.
Tooltips are currently completely disabled. This needs looking at again when they return.
No tooltips anymore
