Description Elias Probst 2008-05-29 08:51:39 UTC
Version: SVN rev 814020 (using Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources

If there are multiple items of the to-do list are selected and you click right, to edit common properties of them all at once, just the one where you did the rightclick, stays selected when opening the properties dialog.

The selection of multiple items using the mouse isn't possible, while CTRL+A works → inconsistent behavior.

So far, not that bad - this would be more a case for the wishlist.

But if you do the 'rightclick' via the menu button, found on a lot of keyboards, all items stay selected.
Choosing now 'Edit' from the contextmenu results in no action.

This behavior should be made more consistent:
- either the possibility to edit common properties of multiple items at one should be implemented (very handy to assign a category to a bunch of items)
- or the simple solution: deselect all items except of one when receiving the menu key event

I just looked into that. KOrganizer uses the tree view, Qt's QTreeView, correctly. I tried a very simple example to test QTreeView, and even there it's possible to select all items using Ctrl+A even if single selection is enabled.

I submitted this as a bug to Trolltech, I don't think that it makes sense to work around this issue in KOrganizer.

There are other bugs/wishes about editing multiple items at once, e.g. #141258 or #141970, and I think that's the way we should go. But that's too big changes for 4.1.

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kontact (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.

Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
