Description Han Holl 2008-05-26 15:25:59 UTC
Version: 2.0 (using KDE 4.0.4)
Installed from: Fedora RPMs

If I run dcop, no konsole-$PID is visible.
Maybe something else is rotten with fedora 9.
I upgraded and got no errors.
I I type dcop, I get:
kded
knotify
kio_uiserver
kalarmd
kcookiejar
klauncher
kmail
kalarm
kpowersave
I can run konsole from fedora 8 (kde 3.5.9) which works fine (dcop included)

KDE 4 has switched from DCOP to D-Bus[1] as IPC system. You may use the "qdbus" executable provided by Qt 4 as a rough equivalent to the KDE 3 "dcop" command, or the collection of utilities provided by the D-Bus software suite itself.

The application list from your "dcop" output are KDE 3 applications/processes.

I see, thanks.
I don't quite see the equivalent of 'reparseConfiguration', but let's hope this
surfaces with KDE 4.1

If you have a compelling use case for exporting such a method, I'd recommend filing a separate wishlist ticket for it in the tracker here, so the concern doesn't get lost.

Ok. I don't know whether it's compelling, but I certainly liked it.
