Description William Kohlhase 2008-05-19 05:49:36 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.0.4)
Installed from: 0I Don't Know
OS: Linux

When I attempt to use Adept Manager, a box entitled : "Database Locked - Adept Manager" says that another process is using the packaging system database... and asks if I would like to attempt to resolve the problem. When I click Yes, another window appears saying that the adept manager has crashed, causing a signal 6 (SIGABRT).

This happens every time.

If I select "NO" on the first question of whether I wan to resolve it, the adept manager is not fully functional.
Comment 1 William Kohlhase 2008-05-19 05:54:43 UTC
I don't know what version of KDE I have. I selected 4.04 because I had to select something to submit the bug report, and don't how to determine the version since the help menus don't work either.
Comment 2 FiNeX 2008-05-20 22:23:59 UTC
What is your platform? ubuntu?

Try to start "adept --version" from a shell.
Comment 3 William Kohlhase 2008-05-21 06:14:15 UTC
Dear FiNeX,

I am running Kubuntu, 7.10.

So here and now I reveal my ignorance: How does one
"...start "adept ----version" from a shell" ?
What is a shell?

Yes, I am a newbie, of the newist rawist sort.
No programming skills nor experience.
I'll have to be walked through it to have a chance.

Thanks for your help, and patience,
in advance.

Will

Comment 4 Peter Rockai 2008-08-08 14:48:58 UTC
This has been fixed in Adept 3.0 alpha 6, which runs dpkg recovery just fine.
Comment 5 Rousiman 2009-01-05 21:23:17 UTC
I really don't know if this is the same problem. I am newbie on this field.

Here are the details:

  Version KDE 4.1.2
  Adept: 3.0 Beta 4 (Sheldon)
  Qt: 4.4.3
  OS (Linux) Kubuntu 8.10

When I attempt to use Adept Manager, a box entitled : "Adept -The KDE Crash Handler" says that A fatal Error Occurred. The application Adept (adept) crashed and caused the signal 6 (SIGABRT).

This happens every time and after try to install Firefox. I followed the previous solution (update) but still is not working.

Here are the bug details

Application: Adept (adept), signal SIGABRT
