Description Andrew Cilia 2008-05-17 12:36:00 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.0.3)
Installed from: Fedora RPMs

I started to add effects to kwin via systemsetting and on accepting, X tried to restart but went back to the login screen. After going down to run level 3 and running startx manually, I found out that the problem lies somewhere in the kwinrc file (after renaming it, X starts OK). I will attached the standard error output of a failed startx session and the offending kwinrc file.

Going by the backtrace in the first attachment it looks to entirely be an X+driver issue. Does it still occur in the latest version of KDE?

Marking as a duplicate of bug 174769 as it will fix the login problem. The crash is X itself.
