Description Maciej Pilichowski 2008-05-13 11:02:38 UTC
Version: (using KDE 3.5.9)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

New mail -> enter anything -> turn "reply to" field -> type some addres -> queue mail -> edit it -> "reply to"? Empty.

You can also save it as draft, this field will be deleted as well.
Comment 1 FiNeX 2008-05-13 20:18:24 UTC
Kmail on KDE4 (trunk) doesn't forget the "reply to" field.

I've tried even KDE 3.5.9 which doesn't delete that field. I've do this steps:
1) new mail
2) write an address on the "TO:" field
3) write another address on the "reply to:" field
4) save the mail as draft / queue mail
5) reopened the mail

The "reply to field" isn't empty.

I've configured kmail to add automatically the signature and the GPG key, maybe with this configuration the mail is fully saved?

FiNeX (btw. can I write Finex for short, I have RSI, so if it is ok for you it would be great), what do you mean by "reopening"

1-4) same as here
5) view source --> there is reply-to
6) double click on the message, so I get back to composer to edit mail
7) reply-to is "deleted" (is not read/shown really)
8) escape! to just quit, NO EDIT
9) view source -> reply-to is still there
10) double click again
11) change the mail (body)
12) to draft
13) view source -- no reply-to

I have sig as well, and I try to GPG signature as well, no difference, still reply-to is deleted

So the fault is on composer side. It cannot read reply-to properly.
Comment 3 FiNeX 2008-05-13 21:20:41 UTC
Ok Maciej, feel free to write Finex instead of FiNeX, but you're the one allowed to... :-)

About the bug, with "reopen" in mean the "double click" for open the composer :-)

I've followed exactly your steps from 1 to 13, but the reply to didn't disappear.

I'm working on an IMAP server, and you?
Comment 4 Maciej Pilichowski 2008-05-13 21:31:40 UTC
Normal local folders, POP3/SMTP for communications.

( Thank you for the privilege :-) ).
Comment 5 FiNeX 2008-05-13 22:05:28 UTC
Ok, so could the problem be there? I'm using IMAP and you're using local folders.
Comment 6 Maciej Pilichowski 2008-05-13 22:31:15 UTC
Maybe. Let's wait for somebody who uses local folders and KDE3 and KDE4.

You can try this:
1-4) as before
5) move the mail from draft to some local folder
6) re-edit it
7) now almost all fields are deleted!
Comment 7 FiNeX 2008-05-15 19:04:28 UTC
moving the email from draft (on IMAP) to draft on local folders is ok too: fields doesn't disappear.
Comment 8 Maciej Pilichowski 2008-05-15 20:12:13 UTC
Finex, do you use regular or enterprise version of KMail? Me: regular.
Comment 9 FiNeX 2008-05-15 20:34:15 UTC
regular? enterprise? I'm using kmail from the archlinux packages. Could you explain me what is "enterprise" kmail?

:-)
Comment 10 Maciej Pilichowski 2008-05-15 20:58:12 UTC
Help -> About. If "enterprise" is mentioned, this is enterprise version, if not -- regular.

Easy to spot, because when using regular version on second and every next "send from queue" you have to click on outbox folder in order to send. Enterprise has not this bug.

This might be important. I have several identities.

In #6 please use non-default identity (it is important in this case for sure!).
Comment 12 Martin Fitzpatrick 2009-04-04 04:08:57 UTC
Thanks for reporting this bug Maciej Pilichowski and for your patience in tracking it down. I've confirmed on KDE 4.2.2 (Kubuntu) using the steps given above.

As mentioned by Maciej this bug only appears if you do not use your Default Identity when creating the message. Create as described, save to local folder, reopen and the Reply-to address is empty (it is still visible however when viewing source).
Comment 13 FiNeX 2009-04-04 12:03:05 UTC
Ok, I've reproduced it on current trunk using an identity which is not the default one.

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
