Version: (using KDE 4.0.4) Installed from: I Don't Know OS: Linux It would be nice if the size and color of borders could be adjusted, and if users could whether or not they even wanted any borders at all. When I say borders, I mean the ones around things like plasmoids and the taskbar.
It would also be nice if the opacity could be changed as well.
Not in favor of yet another configuration option. This is completly trivial to do, just open the theme in a svg editor and change alpha of the corect elements or if you want make them smaler. The cool thing about this is that you wil create a new theme that you can share.
I don't agree with that, simply because: could my girlfriend do that? no. KDE is all about liberty to configure things the way you want, you could do that in kde 3, why not in kde 4? add a tab, or a "extended options" button in the configure window.
we don't have a clean way to modify svg right now, so adjusting the size of borders would be feasible (but only for pure svg themes, for instance the current default theme is not) but color the svg in a clean way it's just not feasible when it will be feasible woud be easyer to do themes that follow system colors, but making another config option don't make much sense
OK. How about instead of just having separate configuration options for changing the border properties, there were a "Edit Theme" button or something, which would let users edit various parts of the theme, such as the border size/color/opacity?
(When it's feasable, probably in a later version of KDE)
Just one last note to this, I know kde as always had alot of liberty to configure things as users wants to, I love that about kde. But you have to understant that making configiration options also diminishes the amount of stuf one can do, and raises the bar alot higher for theme creators, making a salable border would be quite a tecnical chalange to do in a svg file, specily how svg themes are done now, is well alot of work, about 30 times as much. And themes like flufy buny would not heven be possible.
OK, I see. I guess I can just use an SVG editor for now. Thanks for the input though.
In the mean time (a long time passed since this review request) editing the themes became much easier as you can combine elements from different themes and quite many themes are available. So it should be rather easy to find e.g. a panel which suits your needs and combine it with a different theme. More detailed options do not make much sense as that would require quite a lot of understand from the users (e.g. to understand what the changed color means). A UI would be as complex as the SVG editor. Overall I would say the request is a worksforme.
