Description Philippe Cloutier 2008-05-09 07:17:19 UTC
Version:            (using KDE 3.5.9)
Installed from:    Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS:                Linux

As a continuation of #135099, ark 2.6.4 doesn't seem to handle password-protected rar archives. When trying to open the same example as attached in 135099, ark fails with "An error occurred while trying to open the archive ". I'm using UNRAR 3.71 beta 1 (3.7.8).

Bug confirmed.
Comment 2 Dario Andres 2008-12-26 15:38:58 UTC
Here using:

Qt: 4.4.3
KDE: 4.1.86 (KDE 4.1.86 (KDE 4.2 >= 20081221))
kdelibs svn rev. 901624 / kdebase svn rev. 901624
kdeutils svn rev. 899332
on ArchLinux x86_64 - Kernel 2.6.27.10

ARK list the files inside a RAR protected file. Also, when extracting it asks for its password (however it crashes, but that's another already reported issue)

Can anyone else confirm this? Thanks :)

Using r901634 and rar 3.80, I can open and extract password protected rar files.

The situation may have changed, but the net result is the same since ark now hangs opening password-protected RAR files, as reported in #206884.
