Description Gerry Gavigan 2008-05-07 21:08:46 UTC
Version: (using Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
OS: Linux

Had same problem with 4.0.3, used one-click install

On advice I have looked at .xsession-errors
Output (edited for clarity) below

one-click-install... did you try the openSUSE package?
Comment 2 Gerry Gavigan 2008-05-09 10:55:52 UTC
I'm sorry, I don't understand the question. I though "one click install" is all about openSUSE. I used the link from the announcement page:

http://www.kde.org/info/4.0.4.php#binary
Comment 3 FiNeX 2008-05-09 11:23:39 UTC
My question was intended as if the one-click-install were referred to openSUSE :-) :-) :-) :-)

Comment 4 George Goldberg 2008-06-02 16:52:24 UTC
Are you still having this problem?
Comment 5 Gerry Gavigan 2008-06-02 19:36:43 UTC
yes, I have tried 4.1 beta to same outcome
Comment 6 George Goldberg 2008-06-03 02:28:25 UTC
OK... I'm by no means certain about what is causing this issue, but I am pretty sure that something wrong is going on that is unique to your setup. I'm seeing ASSERTs from Qt3 in that pasted output, which means some Qt3/KDE3 app is running. At an educated guess, your environment variables could be set wrongly. (Please ask in #kde on irc.freenode.net for help with that if you need it).
Comment 7 A. Spehr 2008-06-03 21:29:51 UTC
Sorry, whoever said that in #kde didn't actually read your bug report. You might also want to try #opensuse, as that might be better.
Comment 8 George Goldberg 2008-06-30 03:51:14 UTC
@comment #7: just because he is running opensuse it doesn't mean that #kde can't help!

@Gerry Gavigan: Any progress on this? Are you still having the issue? Was anyone able to assist?
Comment 9 Gerry Gavigan 2008-06-30 12:53:14 UTC
Glad you asked - the report was no longer showing up as one of my bugs.

I had the same (apparent) problem with 4.0.4 on 11.0 but upgrading to 4.1 Beta2 cured it, and KDE worked once I deleted .kde4 and restarted it.

Unfortunately as aresult of updating to latest Xine from packman, Phonon-xine backend now needs updating in someway and causes KDE4.1 to hang. I didn't report this as I assumed it would be updated in due course.
