one-click-install... did you try the openSUSE package?
I'm sorry, I don't understand the question. I though "one click install" is all about openSUSE. I used the link from the announcement page: http://www.kde.org/info/4.0.4.php#binary
My question was intended as if the one-click-install were referred to openSUSE :-) :-) :-) :-)
Are you still having this problem?
yes, I have tried 4.1 beta to same outcome
OK... I'm by no means certain about what is causing this issue, but I am pretty sure that something wrong is going on that is unique to your setup. I'm seeing ASSERTs from Qt3 in that pasted output, which means some Qt3/KDE3 app is running. At an educated guess, your environment variables could be set wrongly. (Please ask in #kde on irc.freenode.net for help with that if you need it).
Sorry, whoever said that in #kde didn't actually read your bug report. You might also want to try #opensuse, as that might be better.
@comment #7: just because he is running opensuse it doesn't mean that #kde can't help! @Gerry Gavigan: Any progress on this? Are you still having the issue? Was anyone able to assist?
Glad you asked - the report was no longer showing up as one of my bugs. I had the same (apparent) problem with 4.0.4 on 11.0 but upgrading to 4.1 Beta2 cured it, and KDE worked once I deleted .kde4 and restarted it. Unfortunately as aresult of updating to latest Xine from packman, Phonon-xine backend now needs updating in someway and causes KDE4.1 to hang. I didn't report this as I assumed it would be updated in due course.
