Description Kristof Bal 2008-05-06 18:17:25 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.0.3)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

After setting up my MSN(windows live)-account, Kopete connects to the service and lists my contacts together with their online/offline status in the contact window.

When closing (quitting) kopete, and then relaunch it, the contacts are still listed (as they should be), but they all seem to be offline, so I can't start a chat with any of them.

The only workaround I found was removing my MSN-account from the settings, and than re-add it, but of course, this isn't really comfortable.

Any chance you're just offline youself? In the main window, click on the bottom right icon to open the identity widget, right-click on your account and select Online.
You can have kopete connect (go online) automatically after startup by choosing Settings -> Configure -> Behavior, "Connect automatically"

Please reopen if it is not a usage problem (see comment above).

No, it works fine now.
