Version: (using KDE 3.5.9) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages OS: Linux I right click on a MSN contact in a group and select 'groups' then select a group to move it to. Nothing happens. There are several bugs existing similar to this, but most are closed without advising the actual problem, nor solving it. Why can I not move a contact successfuly. Would love to get down to the problem here - if you cannot do it because of some limitation in the closed protocol, then the user should be advised.
OK, I tested some with moving an MSN contact from one group to another in Kopete 0.50.80 (KDE 4.0.83 (KDE 4.1 Beta2)) on Kubuntu 8.04. It appears that instead of moving the contact, it copies it. (This was successfully changed on the server, because I could quit Kopete and start Pidgin and see the change.) The copy option, however, also copies, so it did not simply get "switched" with the move option accidentally. By the way, this implies that the ability to move MSN contacts is not a limitation in the protocol. (I did not test in Kopete 0.12.7)
I can confirm in some way what william says above with KDE 4.0.99. The contact *may* be moved in the kopete contact list to the other group (it is only moved sometimes, other times copied), the changes *may* be saved in the msn server (in one of my tries it didn't save it), and if I restart kopete or start it on my other pc and connect to msn, I can see the contact two times (in both the old and the new group) and this applies only *if* changes have been sent to the msn server, else it loads the previous state... in general this is a mess...
User interaction (copy is copy/move is move) should be fixed in trunk (SVN commit 946606) (will be in KDE 4.3), if some protocols don't propagate the change to the server please create new bug report for that protocol.
