Description Sergei Andreev 2008-05-04 20:44:45 UTC
Version: 1.9.9 (using 3.5.9, Kubuntu (hardy) 4:3.5.9-0ubuntu7)
Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.24-17-generic

Since kde 3.5.9 kmail randomly begin to cause a lot of cpu usage during fethching mail from one of my pop3 mailboxes.
There is some explaining screenshots:

After pressing cancel button situation is normalizing - until another random freeze.
This is definitely kmail problem because Mozilla Thunderbird works just fine and this situation appears only in kde 3.5.9 - first case was when I installed kde 3.5.9 on kubuntu 7.10 with kde 3.5.8

I have the same problem under ubuntu. Kontact/Kmail become unusable
Comment 2 A. Spehr 2009-04-05 11:41:40 UTC
The last, and probably most useful screenshot says:

"Invalid response from server: Unable to complete LIST operation."

Does this only happen on POP? In fact, does it still happen if you upgrade to 3.5.10 or something in the 4.x series?

Thanks!
Comment 3 Sergei Andreev 2009-04-05 20:04:53 UTC
Yes, I am usibng only pop3.

And I have not seen this bug since I swithed to kmail-kde4.

Maybe this was a combination of mail-hoster and certain version of software?

It's back now :(

$ kmail -v
Qt: 4.5.1
KDE: 4.2.4 (KDE 4.2.4)
KMail: 1.11.4
Comment 5 Björn Ruberg 2010-01-17 00:20:41 UTC
Can this be caused by bug #160264
Comment 6 Laurent Montel 2015-04-12 09:43:34 UTC
Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
