Description Will Stephenson 2008-04-22 14:29:03 UTC
Version: (using Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources

Occasionally a paste between 2 tabs in the same console causes the tab receiving the paste to instantly close.

I am having difficulty troubleshooting this or reproducing it reliably - any suggestions?

What kind of text are you pasting? If it contains special characters, they may affect the shell (^D for exit, etc.)
Comment 2 Will Stephenson 2008-04-22 14:47:53 UTC
as far as I know, plain text like function names to paste into a gdb session to set a breakpoint. ^D should only cause an exit if it's the first character though, and there's always been other text in my pastes.

Hi Will,

Does this still happen with a nested shell (ie. several shell instances running inside another)?

Hi Will,

Any luck on reproducing this reliably yet?

Closing as REMIND per comment #4
Comment 6 Will Stephenson 2008-06-02 11:12:51 UTC
No luck yet, but it only happened to me once in the last couple of weeks.
Comment 7 Will Stephenson 2008-09-12 12:06:40 UTC
I figured out how to reproduce it.

middle mouse button on a tab closes that tab without any warning, unless there is obviously a program running in that tab. I was obviously MMB-pasting and missing the tab contents (I have a Thinkpad X60 which only has a trackpoint, which gives me a -3 penalty to DEX)
