Description Rodney Gedda 2008-04-14 13:40:23 UTC
Version: 4.0.3 (using KDE 4.0.3)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

I have seen the reports of Plasma crashing when this widget is added to a system that doesn't support OpenGL shaders, but my experience is different.

If I drag the 3D Earth Model widget to the desktop I get a plasmoid with the message "this object could not be created". When I kill it it returns the next time I start my desktop session (or computer).

If I drag it to the panel I get the message "This object could not be created for the following reason: OpenGL shaders not supported", but not just on the panel the bottom half of the message stretches over to the top of the screen! And now I can't seem to get rid of the damn error message. It just won't delete. Weird shit.

I'm using Intel 945 graphics which supports KWin Composite in a breeze.

I hope this helps make KDE more usable. Keep up the good work.

there were a few issues being highlighted here, all of which are addressed in 4.1
