Description Greg John Goodsir 2008-04-11 13:22:30 UTC
Version: (using 3.5.8, Kubuntu (gutsy) 4:3.5.8-0ubuntu3.3)
Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.22-14-generic

When I use the Color & Gama tab in Monitor & Display of System Settings any change I make is not remembered after reboot.
To reproduce:
1) Open System Settings from the the K Menu
2) Go to Computer Administration section
3) Click on Monitor & Display
4) Click on Administrator Mode button
5) Enter the password and click OK button
6) Click on Color & Gama tab
7) Use the slider controls for Gama correction starting with All then Red, Green and Blue so as to calibrate as best as possible for Display Monitor.
8) Click on the Apply button
9)Exit from System Settings then restart Kubuntu
After restart when System Settings, Monitor & Display, Color & Gama tab is reopened it is noticed that the setting and sliders have reverted to default and your settings are lost.
The expected behaviour is that the settings you calibrated should still be there.
My graphics card is Gigabyte with Nvidia Geforce Fx 5700 chip. It is using the restricted Nvidia driver for hardware acceleration.
The monitor is Sony MFM-HT75W Digital widescreen and the proper driver for it.

Something I have noticed is that after a reboot if I go through the steps above but skipping 4 and 5, although the settings are lost when I click on the all redio button they come back just for the session.

I have been retesting this bug on Mandriva Linux 2008.1 One Live. Installed on my HD and the bug cannot be reproduced.
Is this a bug specific to KDE in Ubuntu. I am using KDE 3.5.9 and
kernel 2.6.24.5-desktop-2mnb in Mandriva.

If you can reproduce only on kubuntu, please report it on ubuntu launchpad.

Thanks for your help!

I don't know that it is for me to report it on ubuntu launchpad because I am not using kubuntu anymore. I would not be able to properly supply any information if asked.
I did a search on ubuntu launchpad and there is one bug similar but it might expire soon because the reporter or anyone has not supplied any asked for information. Ubuntu launchpad bug #222724.
