Description Nate Weibley 2008-04-07 19:45:15 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.0.3)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
Compiler: gcc version 4.2.3 (Gentoo 4.2.3 p1.0) Target: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu
OS: Linux

This bug is extremely similar to bug #157244 except that all of my icons are completely inactive regardless of my mouse settings (single/double click to open). Setting "change pointer shape over icons" has no effect, nor does "automatically select icons".

The only particularly unique thing about my system (I suspect) is that I don't actually have a mouse; technically my only pointing device is a Wacom Intuos3 6x8 tablet. I will attach my xorg.cong and Xorg.0.log briefly, and will provide any other pertinent information upon request. I just don't even know what will be relevant.

I think your tablet may be moving the icon slightly or at least triggering a mouse move event. I'll check into how this is coded to see if this could be the problem.

Found a post from a user with a similar issue. Oddly it seems like changing the pointer style fixes the problem. The first time the pointers are changed to another style though, they don't actually change (although they preview correctly). Upon restarting X, they _do_ change, and subsequent pointer changes also work without restarting X. This also seems to fix the issue of plasmoids on the desktop not responding to clicks correctly.

so it was an x issue? what pointer style were you using, and what pointer style did you switch to that made it work?
