Version: (using Devel) Installed from: Compiled sources OS: Linux Single icon plasma applets (i.e. those created for files in the Desktop) move strangely once rotated. For example, if the icon is rotated 45' counter-clockwise (left) dragging left horizontal will cause it to move in a 45' angle up-left. Fun though trying to second guess this is, it would be preferable if things went where you drag them! Thanks.
how is old your build? this problem was fixed in svn some months ago.
Apologies, the build is 4.0.3 Kubuntu Packages (latest release) Unfortunately 4.0.3 isn't listed in the available versions on here so I chose the next best thing... I'll report a bug against bugs.kde.org to get it listed. In the meantime, whats the best way to be logging this bugs? Thanks for the update.
ah, ok, so it wasn't backported. maybe it's important enough for a future backport?
> it's important enough for a future backport? imho, no. backporting has associated cost, as can be seen from the last two big backport sessions. 4.1 is close enough and this is a minor enough issue that it's probably not worth it. it's not a key missing feature or a bug that prevents work from getting done. anyways, marking this one as fixed since it is.

it's fixed in trunk. would you rather us spend all our time backporting every bug fix to 4.0 instead of working on 4.1, so that 4.1 comes out far less interesting while further endangering the stability of 4.0? of course not. this is about assigning the manpower we have access to wisely. and if i were to bow to public jeering and opinion, i'd have left this project (and probably free software in general) with a shattered soul a long time ago. the free software enthusiast community is full of jerks. it's something i've simply gotten very used to dealing with.
For what it's worth, as the original reporter of this bug I'm happy with the resolution & agree that it can wait til 4.1. At most it's a minor issue, a quirk even. I thought it was kind of funny. tfjellstrom: 4.1 is the focus now, everyone knows that. If you can't wait for solutions to minor issues like this, don't use the 4.0.x releases, simple as. Aaron: Thanks for all the hard work, it's much appreciated.
