Version: (using KDE 4.0.2) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages OS: Linux The 'K' menu opens very slowly first time after every OS boot/reboot. At opening this menu redraws very slow. Next times it opens and redraws normal. I think you can fix it.
well, we on showing it the first time the icons are readed while later the icons are cached and there is not much we can do there since at some time we like to read the icons to display them...
I think, when KDE is starting, it should run some function, which force caching the icons. When I open the 'K' menu first time the icons are already cached and the 'K' menu opens quickly.
Why should the kickoff menu read all those icons when the user never uses it? It would slow down showing the "K" item in the panel.
user reports, dev team decides. period. there are reasons for that, e.g. dev team understanding the technical issues deeper than the user often will. feel free to continue to comment, but leave bug status as is.
