Version: (using KDE 4.0.2) Installed from: Mandriva RPMs mdv bugreport : https://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=26133 The KDE menu entry for GEdit doesn't show an icon and it has "Text Editor" as its name (that should be its description) while it doesn't have a description at all. There is no way to know you're starting GEdit without first starting it. I've done a full standard install with both KDE and GNOME installed, and the entry for GEdit in GNOME is just fine (although, on another matter, the other text editors don't follow this convention) since gnome-panel is able to digg into kde own icons, I would suggest similar feature for kde : trying to digg into gnome icons.
i have installed gedit. it's name shows up, the icon shows up, there's a description for it. this is obviously a packaging bug or some such thing. > trying to digg into gnome icons we've shared an icon theming spec for a number of years and a common icon naming scheme since kde 4.0. so ... we do.
