Description Peter Romano 2008-04-02 04:07:20 UTC
Version: 2.9.999 (using 4.00.00 (KDE 4.0.0), Kubuntu packages)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.22-14-generic

This happens regardless of the archive. I have tried several things including rebooting in hopes of solving this and it has not.
I am fairly new to Linux but I am very well versed in Microsoft Windows, DOS and AmigaDos.
This is very frustrating and it is keeping me from installing my hardware drivers.

Could you tell what type of archive it is ? (.tar, .tar.gz, .zip., .rar, etc.)

Do you get an error message of any kind ?

If one of the archives you are trying to extract is publicly available, could you give an URL to get it.

I too am having this problem, but with KDE 4.1 release. A lot of archives simply fail to extract. I've tested zip, rar, and tar.gz.
