Version: (using Devel) Installed from: Compiled sources This is split off from bug #152030. With the Oxygen decoration it is difficult to quickly tell which window is the active one (especially with the default settings, without compositing enabled, etc.). See the attached picture and try to quickly tell which window is the active one (and I could even make a worse example). As this seems to be generally the biggest complaint about oxygen, I suggest it is handled with appropriate priority for KDE4.1.

I attached a screenshot how I configured the KDE3 system++ style, which is somewhat similar. It has these colored grips on the title bar, which makes it easy to see the actiev window, and they don't destroy the image of "everything one slab" style. Alex

> I attached a screenshot how I configured the KDE3 system++ style, which is somewhat similar. Ooh, pretty... I think there is some potential there. At any rate, it's a very distinct idea from what I'd come up with.
Ping - what is the status? We're now entering freezes and beta phase and I really want this fixed in 4.1 for the default decoration _somehow_.
Now that Ozone is in place, can this bugreport be closed?
I think it can.

Created attachment 25677 [details] Ozone theme, displaying inability to differentiate between active and non-active windows. In Kubuntu with KDE 4.1 Beta 2 at least, using Ozone instead of Oxygen does not solve the problem. Should I reopen this bug, or file a bug with Ubuntu? Note that in Ozone there is the option to "Blend title bar colors with window contents". This must be checked to have distinctive title bars and window borders. Maybe Ozone with this option checked should be the default? The default in KDE 4.1 Beta 2 is Oxygen.
@Dotan: what happen if you check it, does it solve? if not please check out the colors from the color module.
Yes, checking the box solves the problems. That is why I suggested making the checkmark the default. Until the Ozone theme (with the checkmark) is default, then this bug should not be considered resolved.
"Show stripes next to the title" checbox option in Oxygen style should be turn on by default IMO. Active window would be easier to recognise from inactive one then. I know that there were many posts on this bugzilla about this issue but this option is new. Those three stripes are really good looking, elegant, non intrusive way of solving this issue. Pleas fix it before shipping 4.1 (I use openSUSE11, kde4.1rc1 packages, oxygen without stripes is set as default here)
For all those who want a distinctive BORDER for the active window in the default style, please see this bug: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=169319
