Version: (using KDE 4.0.0) Installed from: SuSE RPMs OS: Linux Dear developers, I have tried out KDE 4 from the CD OpenSUSE 10.3 GM KDE Live. Myself being a "keyboard navigator" and some kind of "power user" I became disappointed that the Panel is less user-friendly from my point of view than is the case in KDE 3.5. 1. I couldn't find a way to assign a keyboard shortcut for opening the K-menu. 2. The K-menu opens with the cursor in the search field, thus making it impossible to directly type the initial(s) of the menu entry you want to open. 3. The tabs in the K-menu are not really to my liking (they are for example upside-down), but I can see the advantage of the K-menu not flooding the screen with its submenus. The tabs should however be at least selectable by typing initial(s) or an underlined letter instead of walked through with the arrow keys. 4. I couldn't find a way to step back from e.g. Applications submenu without mouse clicking. There are more concerns and suggested improvements concerning the Panel, but these will do for now. If this new Panel design and behaviour suits "mouse (or other pointing device) navigators" I think a good decision would be to have the possibility of choosing an improved 3.5-style Panel for those who navigate with the keyboard. Regards, Magnus Johansson
This wish is rather about KMenu, see report: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=175152 about panel wishes.

Hello! This feature request was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this feature request is already implemented in Plasma 5, or is no longer applicable. Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this feature request. If the requested feature is still desired but not implemented in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging Thanks for your understanding!
