Yes, this it not kde related but crystal caused by an incompatibility between kwin and aquamarine/compiz. Or just a bug in crystal. What version of crystal are you using? There are fixes in 1.0.5 and I know that Ubuntu ships fairly old packages.
The crash is most probably in Compiz, which is not developed by the KDE team, in a decoration not developer by the KDE team, so closing.
