Description Susan Penter 2008-03-10 19:20:00 UTC
Version: 0.9.2-final (using 3.5.8, Kubuntu (gutsy) 4:3.5.8-0ubuntu3.3)
Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.22-14-generic

Having selected an album to upload to flickr the website opened and I gave it permission however every time I hit export to flickr the same happened so the photos were never actually exported. I tried 5 times.

This sounds like one of the recently reported problems with the flickr
export (Susan, you could find and check related problems
by clicking on Component: flickrexport in BKO webpage)
Comment 2 Susan Penter 2008-03-10 20:24:07 UTC
I've tried to do this but I've done a google search for BKO and got nowhere,
I've searched through the bugs.kde webpage and found no menu with component
in.

Sorry, I'm new to Linux, when I placed the report there was only one other
fixed bug relating to Flickr and that was to choose some rather than all of
the photos.

I hope that helps.

This reminds me that the flickr plugin have been not working for me for a long long time. It used to work at the past but it stopped working at some point. When it doesn't have the credentials (account info, permissions, etc...) it opens correctly the flickr login page at it registers (apparently) the flickr uploader. Digikam keeps this information in future sessions. But, the problem for me, at least, is that when I select a picture and I click the upload button, after some time it popups a dialog saying that some error happened while uploading. It wasn't possible to me to use the option to log as a different account to try to reapply the permissions, as it kept the old login info. The way to remove that info was by hand in the kipirc file.

I'll try to investigate a little bit if I can find any extra info checking the output to the terminal.

Just as a note, I'm using the latest 0.9.4 svn for digikam and the latest svn for the kipi plugins.
Comment 4 Antonio E. 2008-03-13 15:44:10 UTC
I've tried again after deleting the settings in the .kipirc and it failed to upload. This time I executed the app from the command line, and this is the output:

digikam: Add photo queryhttp://www.flickr.com/services/upload/?auth_token=7...
digikam: SlotUploadImages done
digikam: Checking Error in response
digikam: Error code=96
digikam: Msg=Invalid signature
digikam: GetToken finished

I don't think that is too useful. But anyways, something is wrong as I can't make it to work. Is there any other test or feeback that I can give about this problem?

For me, this sounds familiar. The "invalid signature" is a common errormessage using flickrexport. I suspect that there are more than one reason for the errormessage; however so far I have only been able to point to the fact that if an image title (file name) contains non-ascii characters such as æøå, êèé and other characters including accents, the flickrexport returns "invalid signature".

It is suspected that the same error message is generated when some special combinations of characters are found in the EXIF comments or data fields. (With comments i mean the free text field, data fields = all other fields). Examples of such may inlcude a newline with a trailing space at the end of the comment field.

Susan,

This bug is a duplicate. I think i have fixed it with current implementation from svn. Please checkout source code and try again.
