Version: (using KDE 4.0.1) Installed from: SuSE RPMs OS: Linux doing these: kickoff -> system settings -> display -> change resolution & refresh rate -> apply. results on a white & unusable panel. this happens both on my desktop pc (fglrx) & my notebook pc (intel).
Created attachment 23575 [details] white panel after changing resolution
using composite (desktop effects)? as you can see, the system tray icons are showing in the right place. that means that the systray applet is actually "there". it's safe to therefore assume the rest are as well.
i set both pc to not using desktop effect (composite). yes the panel is there, but i can't do anything to it. clicking the area where the kickoff (kmenu) supposed to be, taskbar, systray icon, etc doesn't do anything.
hm.. well, i can't reproduce this on either my nvidia system or my intel system. changing screen resolution works perfectly here.
hmm.. after deleting ~/.kde4 changing resolution didn't make the panel white again. but when i set my desktop pc for xinerama dualhead, changing screen resolution make the panel white again. and i have to restart plasma to make it normal again. oh well... you can close this report if you want. :)
Hi. I have the same problem here running kde 4.0.2 (had it with 4.0.1 as well. It happens when changing the resolution from a dual head resolution to single head resolution. Example: Available resolutions are: 2880x900 60.0 1440x900 60.0* 1024x768 60.0 ... changing from 2880x900 to let's say 1440x900 makes the panel go white, same happens the other way around. When doing a change from 1440x900 to 1024x768 the panel does not break ... so this seems to be connected to dual head configs.
See the same here when using different resolutions on the two displays, specifically the following combo: Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1280 x 864, maximum 1280 x 1280 VGA-0 connected 1152x864+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 0mm x 0mm LVDS-0 connected 1280x854+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 0mm x 0mm If I set both to 1024x768, panel is fine.
kwin can sometimes screw us up here, but plasma works properly when the window manager does in trunk/ (will be 4.1)
