Version: (using KDE 3.5.8) Installed from: SuSE RPMs Well, it maybe should be a wish but LANG is so standard thing that it is hardly to be ignored. No matter what I set as LANG kile default encoding is ISO-8859-1. It is incorrect, the default one should be based on LANG.
KDE 3 does *not* make use of LANG. Set KDE_LANG or it.
> Set KDE_LANG or it. Intended: "Set KDE_LANG for changing the language of a KDE 3 application". And, I think KDE 4 can use LANG as well.
(Note also comment #5 of bug #134993 .)
Pino, thank you for the replies. > KDE 3 does *not* make use of LANG. This is odd (and I read the mentioned report, thank you) -- I use KDE 3.5.8 but there are no KDE_LANG related system variables in the system! This is also not true I guess -- I just checked Krusader for example. It reacts on LANG (good) but not on KDE_LANG. Just of curiosity I set KDE_LANG manually and Kile ignored this as well.

No response; assuming it was fixed since then.
