Description Elie Bleton 2008-02-06 06:44:54 UTC
Version: 2.0.0 (using KDE 4.0.0)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
Compiler: gcc 4.1.2
OS: Linux

I monitored two other bugs on the same subject. It seems that using the --enable-transparency command line switch solved the problem for these bugs. It doesn't for me. I use the i810 Xorg driver, and I have KWin composition enabled without problems popping elsewhere.

I'm still trying to figure out how to build a fresh Konsole, and I could spend more time to do it if it was required.

Are you using a color scheme which uses transparency?

Do other compositing effects such as transparent windows, shadows etc. work?
Comment 2 Elie Bleton 2008-02-06 14:53:03 UTC
- compositing effects work
- my background transparency is set to 25%

Now for the hard to admit part : I've just retried and *it works perfectly*. I've been trying to make it work for days before filling the bug and tadaa...
Sorry for wasting your time, I'll close the bug.

I don't know if I'll be able to reopen it later. I'll try a reboot to check if it goes back to previous b0rked state. I'm puzzled about what did change to make it work, and I'm sure to have kept the same configuration ...

Perhaps you already had other Konsole windows open? The --enable-transparency flag must be passed to the first Konsole instance which is started.

Precisely. After I reboot I tried first without --enable-transparency, and from that konsole launched another one with --enable-transparency. As you say, in that case, transparency doesn't work. Otherwise, starting with a fresh transparency-enabled konsole works like a charm, and I'm really (*really*) pleased at the results. Looks splendid !
