Description Sebastiano 2008-01-31 20:16:16 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.0.0)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

It would be nice if krunner could be fixed, as a plasmoid or in some other fashion, on the desktop.

This would also allow to drag krunner on the panel.

i think the real solution here is to make a plasmoid that backends onto runners. duplicating krunner itself as a plasmoid is not make a lot of sense as it has a lot more than just the run dialog itself.

as the runners are part of libplasma and this is a request for a plasmoid, i'm moving it to the plasma component where it has a better chance of being found.

I just found that plasmoid: http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php/plasma-runner?content=75059
I don't really know how it is done and whether it can use the different runner backends, but I think it is not unrelevant to the initial wish.

Are there plans to add plasmoid with these capabilities (applet from kde look does not work with KDE 4.1)? It would be very nice equivalent for kicker applet from KDE3. Possibility to run commands directly from panel or desktop is very useful (at least for some people ;-)).
Comment 4 Michał D. (Emdek) 2008-10-19 13:20:40 UTC
I've created a simple plasmoid that can run commands. It doesn't use KRunner but KRun, like shell runner. It is not perfect (my first application with GUI and first created using Qt / KDE) and is not usable in panel, because it can't get focus (Plasma bug?).

A runners-related widget is implemented in playground-plasma:

Hello!

This feature request was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this feature request is already implemented in Plasma 5, or is no longer applicable.

Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this feature request. If the requested feature is still desired but not implemented in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting

If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging

Thanks for your understanding!

Nate Graham
